Artist Statement.

My venture into the art world originated during my Ph.D. research, which explored the representation of traumatic memories of the most recent war in El Salvador through various forms of art. This wasn't just a professional path, but a personal quest to bridge a gap in my own memories and understanding of the war that had pushed me to leave El Salvador as a child. Through extensive field research, interviews with artists, and immersion in diverse art forms—ranging from painting and muralism to drama and installation art—I developed a critical appreciation for art, but also collaborated with artists, joined art collectives, and started creating my own art. While largely self- taught, my art has been enriched by periods of study at El Salvador's renowned National Center of Arts Institute (CENAR).

My Artistic Process.

I use graphic design tools including a digital tablet, Photoshop, painting, printing and collage techniques to explore and develop symbolism, color and composition. I work with fine art premium print shops to create museum quality archival prints, hand stretched canvas art and other unique gifts.

My art is inspired by Latinx personal experiences and memories.

You'll see symbols like calla lilies, tehuanas, carnations, huipils, aguacateros and tenango and otomi textiles intertwined with talavera designs, mandalas, agricultural symbols and folk iconography.
